FAQs
Dress code
Semi-formal. We encourage attire that complements the color palette of the decor and our wedding outfits: reds and golds. If you’d like, we also welcome guests to wear outfits that pay tribute to their (Global South) cultural heritage.
Parking
Guest parking will be available on-site.
Flying into Burbank
-
~15 miles drive from Pasadena, typically 20-25 minutes depending on traffic.
-
With only two terminals, it’s far breezier than LAX in terms of traffic.
-
The only catch with Burbank is that there are fewer available flights flying into Burbank and they tend to be more expensive.
Where to stay in Pasadena
-
Courtyard by Marriott (1 mile from Maxwell)
-
Residence Inn by Marriott (1 from Maxwell)
-
Hyatt Place Pasadena (1.5 miles)
-
We do NOT recommend the Westin Pasadena, Hilton Pasadena, AC Hotel, or Hotel Dena, which are known to have housed ICE agents in summer 2025.
Where to stay in San Gabriel Valley (SGV)
-
GreenTree Inn & Suites Alhambra (4 mile drive)
-
The San Gabriel Valley is home to many “suburban Chinatowns,” especially in the cities of Monterey Park, San Gabriel, and Alhambra.
Registry
We don’t have a registry and don’t need any gifts! Instead feel free to send donations to a Sameer Project campaign for Palestinian relief efforts.
Flying into LAX
-
~30 miles drive from Pasadena, typically 45-80 minutes depending on traffic.
-
Flights tend to be somewhat cheaper than Burbank, but the airport itself can be a nightmare traffic-wise so make sure to budget enough time to make it around the loop to your terminal (for departures) or to your car rental or LAX-it (for arrivals).
-
All taxis and rideshares pick up at LAX-it, a short shuttle ride from LAX terminals.A one-way rideshare trip from LAX to Pasadena will cost $70-$100 depending on traffic conditions.
Getting around LA
-
We recommend renting a car to get around the LA area unless you’re staying in or near Pasadena, otherwise rideshare costs are likely to add up quickly.
-
The LA Metro is fairly reliable timing-wise but sparse in terms of geographical coverage. The two closest Metro stations to the wedding venue are Del Mar and Memorial Park, the latter of which is right next to the two Marriott hotels listed below in Old Town Pasadena. The cheapest way to get around Pasadena (between 5:30am-10pm) is Metro Micro, a van-based Metro-operated rideshare service with a $2.50/ride base fare.
Other neighborhoods to stay in
-
We don’t have any other specific hotel recs in the LA area, and for most neighborhoods you’re likely to find more affordable/flexible housing options through Vrbo or Airbnb.
-
Other than the aforementioned SGV locations, some other cute neighborhoods conveniently located for the wedding are Highland Park, Eagle Rock, and Glassell Park.
-
Neighborhoods we like that are closer to the afterparty: Echo Park, Los Feliz, Silver Lake, East Hollywood.
